Le Petit Mouton, the second wine of Chateau Mouton Rothschild, is among the most sought-after second wines. These days, Le Petit Mouton's quality is equal to many Grand Vin in Pauillac.
Petit Mouton is produced from an exceptional terroir, made with grapes from selected younger vines in the illustrious First Growth vineyard, it is harvested, vinified and bottled with the same scrupulous attention to detail as its big brother - Chateau Mouton. Harvested in small, open baskets, fermented in the Mouton oak vats, matured in oak barrels in the traditional way, all the conditions are met for the wine to express the elegance and richness of a great Pauillac.
2014 Petit Mouton, has a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, it is full-bodied, firm and powerful. Very minerally. It displays blackcurrants, stones and blueberries, and a hint of sweet tobacco. 2015 Petit Mouton is a very outstanding vintage. Many major wine critics eg. James Suckling praised it as superb second wine of Mouton, "It is extremely perfumed with dried flowers and dark berries. Full bodied, integrated tannins and chocolate, walnut and cedar character." |
